Friday Night Service Requirements

Attendance at Friday night services is necessary for our children to develop confidence and the ability to participate in a meaningful way. The celebration of Shabbat enhances the understanding of Judaism.

A student needs to feel he/she can come to the Bema and competently perform a Bar/Bat Mitzvah service. Friday night services help develop that confidence.

Unless a family has a problem or hardship making it impossible to attend Friday night services, the Education Committee agrees Friday night services are otherwise required at Temple Shalom.

It is to the benefit of each student to attend these services, to be properly prepared and to be self-confident. Each Bar/Bat Mitzvah will then fully participate in his/her meaningful service.

Parents and educators have the obligation to make available every opportunity for the children to learn and experience Judaism.
