Temple Shalom Cemetery

Temple Shalom is fortunate to be one of a few synagogues that owns its own cemetery.  We acquired our cemetery from Sons of Israel in 1995.  After a large amount of work and a generous donation from the Lomrantz family and Sons of Israel, this cemetery is now able to accommodate the needs of our diverse temple membership.  There is a section of the cemetery that is exclusively for those who are of the Jewish faith.  There is also a section that is for interfaith families, however, although one doesn't have to be Jewish to be buried in our cemetery, one must be buried by a Rabbi and no other clergy.  The only other requirement is that no religious symbols or artifacts except those of the Jewish faith may be on the grave site or stone.

The cost of a cemetery plot is currently (in 2009) $1200 per member and $1500 for a non member.  As our cost of maintenance and insurance rise so will these costs.

Most people don't purchase cemetery plots until needed and too often just add more pain to a very stressful time.  The fact that we have a beautiful location for our cemetery, only a few miles from the synagogue, and our prices are very fair, please consider a little preplanning for your family's sake.
